There is something deliciously rebellious about a picnic. The decadence of being able to lay back while eating, to enjoy food in any order, without the formality of cutlery and hard seating. Hands will get sticky. Clothes are crumpled. A pause to siesta is encouraged.

While there are no rules with a picnic (and you should mistrust those who tell you otherwise) one thing is required. A proper picnic needs proper food. So find the perfect meadow or head to the nearest park bench, lay out a blanket or throw down your jacket, unpack a feast or unwrap a sandwich; but please, keep it proper.
