Three of our wonderful baristas, Daniela, Manus and Fabio, along with our Founder, Tom, had the opportunity to visit Rwanda with Union Handroasted, the origin of one of our four coffee beans in our House Blend.
They visited the Abahuzamugambi Ba Kawa Co-operative which is formed of hundreds of farmers who own coffee trees and bring their cherries to the Maraba washing station to be processed and sold.
On arrival, they were greeted by a a traditional welcome dance and song about coffee from the women working on the drying beds. The beans are sorted by hand, it is meticulous work discarding unripe and defected beans. Check out a video of the welcome dance here.
