Madwa founder, Kathy, lives around the corner from our South Kensington bakery. Madwa is a design-led company with a purpose. Since 2012, Madwa has been empowering communities in Eswatini, Southern Africa, through the employment of craftswomen and local artisans so that they can provide and care for themselves, their families and those around them.
The raw materials in Madwa’s products are local and sustainably sourced and include grasses, reeds and other plants that are indigenous to eSwatini – a small, landlocked country.
Experts in what they do, the all-female team of artisan weavers, delicately craft the most beautiful sustainable pieces for our tables – from bread baskets to breakfast trays and placemats – to enjoy alongside a loaf of freshly baked sourdough.
